The short answer
GTA 6 launches on November 19, 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The exact unlock moment is set per store region, and the official listings do not agree on one global hour: Central Europe unlocks at 23:00 UTC on November 18, the UK at 00:00 UTC on November 19, and the US and Canada at 05:00 UTC on November 19. Digital pre-orders can start downloading at local midnight on November 12. The game ships with English voice audio and interface and subtitles in 13 languages.
Every value below was checked on September 19, 2026 against Rockstar, PlayStation Store and Xbox Store pages. If your own store listing changes before launch, the listing wins.
When does GTA 6 unlock in my region?
Rockstar's official site and Take-Two's June 24, 2026 press release give the date, November 19, and the platforms, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Neither gives an hour. The hour comes from each store's product record:
| Store region |
Timestamp in the listing |
What it means locally |
| Hungary, Poland, Germany (PlayStation and Xbox where checked) |
Nov 18, 23:00 UTC |
Nov 19, 00:00 CET |
| United Kingdom (PlayStation and Xbox) |
Nov 19, 00:00 UTC |
Nov 19, 00:00 GMT |
| United States (PlayStation and Xbox) |
Nov 19, 05:00 UTC |
Nov 19, 00:00 EST |
| Canada (PlayStation and Xbox) |
Nov 19, 05:00 UTC |
Nov 19, 00:00 Eastern |
| Australia (Xbox) |
Nov 18, 13:00 UTC |
Nov 19, 00:00 AEDT (Sydney, Melbourne) |
The pattern is midnight in each storefront's reference time zone. Your region is the one attached to your PlayStation Network or Microsoft account, not the country you happen to be in.
Does the US unlock at midnight in every time zone?
The listings do not say. A US store record holds one instant, 05:00 UTC, which is midnight Eastern and 9:00 pm Pacific on November 18. Neither Sony nor Microsoft has stated whether the unlock follows that single instant or rolls through local time zones. Treat midnight Eastern as the earliest documented moment, and check your console's store page in the final week.
Why does my store page show November 18?
Some web listings print the UTC date. The Hungarian PlayStation Store page, for example, shows 18/11/2026 in its release field, because the underlying timestamp is 23:00 UTC on the 18th. In Central European Time that is already midnight on the 19th. A November 18 date in a European or Australian listing is a time-zone artefact, not an earlier launch.
When does pre-load start, and what does it do?
Rockstar Support states that players who pre-order a digital version can begin pre-loading at local midnight on November 12, 2026. The PlayStation Store lists "7-Day Pre-load" among the contents of both editions, which is the same November 12 to 19 window.
Pre-loading only moves the download earlier. The files stay locked until your region's unlock time on November 19. Without a pre-order, you start downloading after launch and wait for the full package.
No store publishes a download size yet. What the listings do and do not say about storage, and what to clear before November 12, is covered in GTA 6 file size and pre-load.
How does the boxed version fit in?
There is no disc. The physical version contains a download code, and Rockstar says it goes on sale from November 12 so that its buyers can pre-load on the same day. Codes redeemed before launch start pre-loading on November 12.
Two region rules decide whether a code works on your account:
- PlayStation: codes are tied to a group of account countries. A US or Canadian code only works on a North American account, a UK code on a UK account, and most of continental Europe, India, Australia and New Zealand share one "Rest of EMEA and Asia" group.
- Xbox: Rockstar says the codes are not region-locked.
Rockstar's advice is to buy from a retailer in the same country as your platform account. The physical edition guide covers the box in more detail.
Which languages does GTA 6 support?
The Rockstar Store lists 13 supported languages: English, French, Italian, German, Russian, Japanese, Polish, Korean, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Spanish (Mexico), Spanish (Spain) and Portuguese (Brazil).
The Xbox Store goes one step further. Its product record marks, for each language, whether the interface, subtitles and audio are supported:
- English (United States): interface, subtitles and audio.
- The other 12 listed languages (German, Spanish for Spain and Mexico, French, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Simplified and Traditional Chinese): interface and subtitles, no audio.
- Every other language in the record, Hungarian included: none of the three.
In practice, the voice cast is English, and the menus and subtitles can be switched to any of the listed languages. No official source mentions a dubbed version in any other language.
Where do the official lists disagree?
Portuguese. The Rockstar Store names Portuguese (Brazil), while the Xbox record lists Portuguese (Portugal) and no Brazilian variant. The PlayStation Store web listing currently carries empty voice and screen language fields, so it cannot settle the question. Until Rockstar or a platform corrects one side, Portuguese-speaking players should check the language section of their own regional listing before buying.
The Xbox interface/subtitle/audio split is store metadata, not a separate Rockstar statement. It is the most detailed official breakdown published so far, and it can still change before launch.
What should a countdown aim for?
Use your own store's timestamp, not a generic one. Two targets matter for every region:
- Pre-load: local midnight on November 12, 2026, per Rockstar Support.
- Play: the timestamp in your regional listing, such as 23:00 UTC on November 18 for Central Europe or 05:00 UTC on November 19 for the US.
A single worldwide countdown to one hour will be wrong for most players.
What to check in launch week
- Open GTA 6 in your console's store while signed in to your own account, and read the release time shown there.
- If you bought a boxed copy, confirm the code's region matches your account and redeem it on November 12.
- Free up storage before the pre-load begins.
