GTA 6 official showcases: every trailer and the Extended Look

Three videos, five scheduling posts and three publisher press releases — that is the entire official Grand Theft Auto VI record on 3 September 2026. Every entry on this timeline carries what Rockstar actually stated, and the page closes with the gaps: what no showcase has ever confirmed.

Eight Newswire posts, and that is the whole record

As of 3 September 2026, the Rockstar Newswire's Grand Theft Auto VI tag holds exactly eight posts. That is everything Rockstar has published about the game on its own news channel, from the first trailer to the Extended Look on 27 August 2026. Anything else you read either traces back to one of these eight, or did not come from Rockstar.

Date Newswire post What it actually stated
5 December 2023 Grand Theft Auto VI – Watch Trailer 1 Now Setting: the state of Leonida and Vice City. Coming 2025 to PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
2 May 2025 Grand Theft Auto VI is Now Coming May 26, 2026 New date: 26 May 2026. Reason given: more time to finish the game.
6 May 2025 Grand Theft Auto VI — Watch Trailer 2 Now Jason and Lucia named; a criminal conspiracy across Leonida; wishlisting on PS5 and Xbox stores.
6 November 2025 Grand Theft Auto VI is Now Set to Launch November 19, 2026 Final date: Thursday 19 November 2026. Reason given: extra months for polish.
18 June 2026 Grand Theft Auto VI Pre-Orders Begin on June 25 Pre-orders open 25 June on digital storefronts and select retailers; official cover art revealed.
24 June 2026 Pre-Order Grand Theft Auto VI on June 25 Midnight local time; Ultimate Edition; Vintage Vice City Pack; pre-load from 12 November; a single player experience.
6 August 2026 Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look The showcase premieres 27 August, 3 p.m. ET on Netflix and 9 p.m. ET on YouTube and the official site.
27 August 2026 Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look — Now Playing The footage was captured entirely in-game on PlayStation 5.

Two things fall out of that list. Rockstar released moving pictures three times in two years and nine months; the other five posts were about dates, pre-orders and scheduling. And the reveals themselves are short — the longest official text in the set runs to five paragraphs.

The three videos, and what the publisher wrote beside them

The official Extended Look page lists all three with a runtime and a date: Trailer 1 at 1:31, dated 4 December 2023; Trailer 2 at 2:47, dated 6 May 2025; the Extended Look, dated 27 August 2026.

There is a small but real inconsistency worth knowing about. The Newswire post for Trailer 1 carries 5 December 2023, while Rockstar's own video listing and Take-Two's press release from the same week both date the trailer to 4 December 2023. The press release, titled Rockstar Games Announces Grand Theft Auto VI, Coming 2025, is dated 4 December and quotes Rockstar founder Sam Houser. If you see the two dates used interchangeably, both are official — they just come from different official pages.

The Trailer 2 press release added a technical statement the Newswire post did not carry: all trailer footage was captured on PlayStation 5. The same claim returns for the longer showcase, where the 27 August 2026 post says the Extended Look was captured entirely from in-game footage on PlayStation 5. That is the only public statement Rockstar has made about the hardware behind the footage.

The Extended Look is the only long-form gameplay Rockstar has shown

The 6 August 2026 post set two separate times: a Netflix premiere on Thursday 27 August at 3 p.m. ET, then the official Rockstar YouTube channel and the game's own site at 9 p.m. ET the same day. The 27 August post was written while only the Netflix window was live — it says the showcase is "now playing on Netflix" and coming to YouTube later that day — and an update line was added on top once both were available. The full regional schedule is in GTA 6 Extended Look: the official August 27 schedule.

Rockstar never stated the running time in words. The video on the official Rockstar Games YouTube channel runs 26 minutes 48 seconds and was published at 9 p.m. ET on 27 August 2026, exactly when the Newswire said it would be. What that footage contains, shot by shot, is broken down in GTA 6 Extended Look: what Rockstar showed in 27 minutes.

What none of the showcases said

A timeline is only useful if it also marks the gaps. These held after reading all eight posts and the official product pages together:

  • A PC version. No post mentions PC, and the official site lists PS5 and Xbox Series X|S only. That absence is the subject of GTA 6 PC system requirements and release date: what is official.
  • An online mode. Not merely unannounced: the 24 June 2026 post states that Grand Theft Auto VI is a single player experience. That is the strongest official statement in the set, and it points the other way.
  • Viewing figures. Neither the Newswire nor Take-Two's press page has published a view count for any of the three videos. Record numbers in circulation are not publisher statements.
  • The showcase's length in text. The 26:48 figure is read off the video's own listing, not from a Rockstar sentence.
  • A launch time. The posts name 19 November as a day and never an hour. Hours live on the store listings, which is where GTA 6 release time by region: date, time zones and countdown starts.
  • A content rating. Take-Two's 24 June 2026 release still describes the game as not yet rated.
  • A next showcase. No post has appeared under the Newswire's GTA VI tag since 27 August 2026, and no third trailer has been announced.

Two delays, two apologies, no press release

The 2 May 2025 and 6 November 2025 posts are almost the same document: a short greeting, the new date, an apology for the wait, and a single reason — quality. Neither names a technical or production cause, and neither promises a specific next update.

Where those two posts did not appear is informative. Take-Two's press release index carried three GTA VI items as of 3 September 2026: the 4 December 2023 announcement, the 6 May 2025 Trailer 2 release, and the 24 June 2026 pre-order release. Neither delay got a press release, and neither did the Extended Look. Rockstar handled schedule changes on its own channel; the publisher escalated the commercial milestones to its investor page.

The pre-order release is also the only official document in the whole set that carries a price: 79.99 US dollars for the standard game and 99.99 for the Ultimate Edition. Those are US list prices. Converting them into another currency does not produce that market's price, and this Edition does not present them as if it did.

Where to go next with this

The useful conclusion is how small the official record is. Three videos, five scheduling posts, three publisher press releases. Map size, mission counts, a PC date, an online mode — none of those appear anywhere in it.

Two sensible next steps. If you want to know which specific claims are confirmed and which are not, GTA 6 fact check: official, unconfirmed or contradicted? works through them one by one. If you would rather look at the world that has been shown, GTA 6 map: Vice City, Leonida and every official location and GTA 6 characters: Jason, Lucia and the official cast stay inside what these eight posts and the official site actually support.
